Advancement of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) is action-oriented and provides a building block towards a more equitable world. Within our community, we see and support women collaborating with each other, creating friendships, sharing their stories and so much more!
Advancement of Women Entrepreneurs was founded by Rosanna Garcia, Ph.D. in 2015 through a grant from NC State Extension, Engagement and Economic Development seed funding program. Soon after, Kate Annett-Hitchcock, Ph.D. joined the team. The founding of AWE was based on a perceived need for supporting entrepreneurial women in business in the NC State community and beyond. AWE is a safe place to network, ask questions, share experiences and provide encouragement through our community.
We now actively participate with area business leaders, community businesses and academic resources to empower and engage with all stakeholders across NC State campus and our greater community as we build our network of women entrepreneurs.
Our mission is to support and engage with women who wish to explore entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking. We are here to create a community to help answer any and all entrepreneurship questions and provide extensive resources for women in business. To us, there’s nothing better than seeing women entrepreneurs thrive and support each other in the community. We want to support female entrepreneurs at every stage of the journey through mentorships, community engagement, social networking and strategic skill-building. Ultimately, our goal is to empower women with the tools they will need to make a difference.
